Data scientists can work in a variety of companies ranging from those for whom data are their major product such as LinkedIn, AirBnB or Uber, to those for whom data are a by-product to increase their business – for example to analyze online traffic, marketing or find new insights. With the multitude of job descriptions and requirements, it can be difficult to find a way to transition to data science. We here list three steps to become a data scientist. It is tailored for those who are already in science or software engineering, but can generally be followed by others as well.
